Five of the BEST Travel Accessories You Can Buy From Amazon
Like it or not, Amazon is a fantastic place to find affordable and useful items for every circumstance, including travel. Over the last few years, I’ve found that there are five things (included below) that I’ve purchased off of Amazon that I will always take with me, regardless of if it’s a big trip, or a short weekend away. I have test run these multiple times, and having them always comes in handy!

1. Go Toobs
These GoToobs have been a game changer for me. I have two sizes, the 53ml (which are small bottles) and the 100ml as well as the little pots which are great for thick creams, or even for taking vitamins etc. with you to save some space!
The main reason I love these so much is the material and the double lock function. Before finding these, I had tried cheaper pots from Superdrug, Primark etc. and they all had one major downside… it didn’t matter what I did, there was always something that leaked/ broke in transit. These were often made of hard plastic with screw tops and unless you’re really careful with them, of course, there’s going to be an accident when travelling.
The GoToobs from Amazon are made of silicone, so they’re a lot more flexible, easy to clean so that you can use them over and over, and a lot less breakable too! Even the little pots have come back unscathed from both the case and my hand luggage.
The double lock feature, however, is the main thing that impresses me about these travel must-haves! For the tube-like GoToob’s, you close the lid, and then the ‘loop lock’ (which looks like a normal bottle collar) flips up to double secure your liquid. If you’re into camping/ hiking, this can also be locked onto a carabiner and secured on the outside of your backpack. Meanwhile, the tubs fasten when you add the lid and you have to squeeze in a certain place (where the ridges at the bottom are) to release the containers, meaning no more spillages and no more mess when travelling!
When I first purchased the portable door lock from Amazon, it was because I had heard multiple scary stories regarding what it meant to be a solo female traveller. Most of the places I’ve visited in the past year or two have thankfully felt very safe, and I haven’t really needed to use it. I do put it on though just in case, and it makes me feel a lot better about being on my own in hotel rooms/Airbnb’s.
Besides, it’s a much better solution than putting a chair against the door (and probably more effective too!).

3. Hanging toiletry bag
Another of my absolute BEST Amazon Travel Purchases is this hanging toiletry bag. If you’re travelling around and staying in hostels, Airbnb’s or sailboats with tiny bathrooms and barely any space to put your shower bits, this is perfect. It has a main compartment (which separates into two) a zip pocket at the front of this compartment and a further zip pocket where the bag opens.
This was absolutely invaluable on my recent MedSailors trip until I realised that showering outside was a lot nicer than in the tiny toilet cubicle… But even so, it’s big enough to take all of the toiletries you could need AND anything additional you can think of.

4. A Turkish Towel
Turkish Towels can be incredibly expensive, however, thankfully Amazon came through for me with an affordable, yet absolutely perfect Turkish towel that I bring absolutely everywhere with me.
Want to go to the beach or have a picnic? Throw it in the bag. Need a coverup to go into a church or other place of worship? Done.
It’s super lightweight and comes in so handy, even if it’s literally just because the towels in the hotel are not as clean as you’d anticipate. It’s also really practical for summer use at home, for putting out in the garden or taking with you to the park and is one of my most used travel items by far.

5. Floating Phone Pouch
Ok, so a floating phone pouch won’t be a priority for everybody, but for me as someone who loves sailing and boats and being on the beach/ by water, this has come in so handy!
The floating phone pouch is one of the best things I’ve found on Amazon as it means that when I’m moving around on a boat, my hands are free to either carry other things or hold onto rails etc.
It also means that when I go into the water from the beach or pool and there’s no one around to watch my things, I can keep anything that is valuable with me (including cards, cash and my phone). It floats, it’s waterproof and it does everything I need it to, although I probably wouldn’t risk throwing it overboard to test it out!
